Using up the leftovers: myth or money-maker?
Do you reckon Jesus nipped to the supermarket to buy flour and eggs specially to make pancakes? It’s not uncommon for people to do that these days.
Religious flag-wavers claim the pancake is symbolic of using up the leftovers before Lent, but at what point does symbolism become commercialism? Supermarkets stock up and make displays with all the pancake ingredients ready to pluck from the shelves. WWJD?
