Dear Mum, I thought about you today only.
It has landed. The biggest commercial event in the corporate calendar since, well, the last one. Scores of people buy cards, flowers, chocolates and other assorted gifts to make up for the rest of the year annoying the people who raised us.
But it never ends at a simple day of recognition with the corporations, does it? No. Mother’s Day, it seems, is yet another reason for stupid people to part with cash. I find greetings cards are the worst offenders:
- Happy Mother’s Day… from the dog
- To Nan on Mothers’ day
- To Grandpa on Mother’s Day… (seriously, I saw this once. What? Does Gramps not want to be left out?)
Commercialism really does suck when it reaches this level of stupidity.
