When size mattered

When I were a lad, 48KB was a lot. Heck, before that, my first computer was a Commodore Vic20 which had just 5KB of RAM, and I thought I was the cat's mittens when I got a 16KB RAM pack for Christmas.

Nowadays, storage and memory is cheap which has bred a crop of silicon-happy programmers. Next time you write an app, please select the amount of RAM and hard disk space of your destination device, or the minimum requirements of the game / app. Then click Was worth and be astounded at how many of these old concepts you’d need to pack into a room to achieve similar capacity.
