<p>Ever wanted TXP's search facility to be a little more, well, inaccurate? Want no more. Define how fuzzy your search is, where to look and how much of a nudge to offer your site visitors with phat phingers.</p>

<p>Results are ordered by approximate relevancy and it's automatically context-sensitive because the pool of words it compares against are from your site. On a zoo website, someone typing in "lino" won't get articles about flooring but more likely articles about lions, which is what they really wanted. We hope.</p>

<h2>Usage at a glance</h2>
<ul>
<li><b>search_term</b>
<br />What you would like to search for: either a fixed string (rather pointless!) or "?q" (the default). Maybe in future other things like ?custom_field so you can embed this in an article and do psuedo-related-article searches</li>
<li><b>match_with</b>
<br />Where you would like to look for a match (i.e. which article fields). Define the object you want to look in (currently only article is supported) followed by a colon, then a semi-colon separated list of places to look: <code>match_with="article:keywords;body;excerpt"</code>. Options are keywords, body, excerpt, category1, category2, section, id, authorid, title (coming soon: custom fields and image searching). Default is article:keywords;body;excerpt;</li>
<li><b>show</b>
<br />What to display: whether to list the closest matching articles, closest matching search terms, or both. Choices are a comma separated list of either <code>articles</code> or <code>words</code>. Default: "words, articles"</li>
<li><b>section</b>
<br />Limit your search results to a particular section or three; give a comma-separated list. Default: empty (the whole site). Coming soon: (maybe) categories.</li>
<li><b>tolerance</b>
<br />How fuzzy the search is and how long the minimum search term is allowed to be. An integer from 0 (very close match, allows short search words) to 5 (pretty much nothing like what you searched for and search words must then be longer, roughly >7 character). Practical values are usually 0, 1, 2 (the default), or possibly 3.</li>
<li><b>case_sensitive</b>
<br />Does what it says on the tin. 1=case sensitive search, 0=not. Default: 0</li>
<li><b>min_word_length</b>
<br />The minimum word length you want returning. Default: 4</li>
<li><b>limit</b>
<br />The maximum number of words and/or articles to display. Give it a single integer and it limits both to the same value. Specifying <code>articles:5</code> would remove any limit to the number of alternative search words offered but would limit the articles to a maximum of 5. Similarly, <code>words:4</code> would remove the article limit and only show a maximum of 4 alternative words. Both of these are subject to their respective "show" options being set of course. Default: <code>words:5, articles:10</code></li>
<li><b>form</b>
<br />The TXP form to output the list of articles in. Default: search_results. Note that because the matches may not contain exact search terms, the 'excerpt' part of search_results with the highlighted matches is usually not displayed!</li>
<li><b>no_match_label</b>
<br />The phrase to display when no matches (maybe not even fuzzy ones!) are found. Defaults to the MLP string 'no_match'. Use <code>no_match_label=""</code> to turn it off.</li>
<li><b>suggest_label</b>
<br />The phrase to display immediately prior to showing close-matching articles/words. Defaults to the MLP string 'suggest'. Use <code>suggest_label=""</code> to switch it off.</li>
<li><b>too_short_label</b>
<br />Searches of under about 3 characters (sometimes more depending on your content) are too short for any reasonable fuzziness to be applied. This message is displayed in that circumstance. Defaults to the MLP string too_short. Use <code>too_short_label=""</code> to switch it off.</li>

<p>Coming soon: class options, image support (with luck) and a few other enhancements, maybe changes to the pattern matching algorithm if anyone wants to help. Pretty please?!</p>

<h2>Example usage</h2>

<p>Since it's not necessarily a direct replacement for the built-in search (though it sort of can be) the best way to use it is in conjunction with <a href="http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=14163">chh_if_data</a> in a page like this:</p>
