The smell of failure

c: | f: /

A little knowledge is not enough when it comes to electronics.

Note to self: when Frankensteining a PC from old components, if you can’t find a manual online anywhere and the pins aren’t adequately marked on the motherboard itself, don’t guess the pinout of the PWR-SW, PWR-LED, RESET-SW and HDD-LED headers.

When power is applied, a faint fizzing sound accompanied by the sweet smell of a fried capacitor is all the feedback I need to know I got it wrong.
